Welcome to Hum Traveller
Moon has been central part of
human civilisation human observation toward this solar body had grew stronger
because of the moon changing its forms and coming up in new full moon. Every
Full moon, New Moon is been celebrated
around the world there are plenty of festival those are followed in the full
moon or new moon phase every tribes,
civilisation has customs and ritual to be followed during the full moon or no
moon days
This new moon will
bring Ramadan along with it thousand of million Muslim will observe the fast during
this month
On this day the Moon will be in a Waxing Crescent Phase. A Waxing Crescent is the first Phase after the New Moon and is a great time to see the features of the moon's surface during this phase the Moon can be seen in the western sky after the sun dips below the horizon at sunset. The moon is close to the sun in the sky and mostly dark except for the right edge of the moon which becomes brighter as the days get closer to the next phase

The rotation of the moon around the earth
drives the Islamic or Hijri Calendar. The lunar month lasts 29.5 days. A new
moon is born when it becomes perpendicular between the sun and the earth. At
that point, called ‘conjunction’, A
lunar conjunction is the event when the earth, moon and sun, in that order, are
approximately in a straight line. It is sometimes referred to as the new moon,
though in Judaism, the new moon refers to observance by earth bound individuals
of the first visible crescent of the moon. The period of time between two lunar
conjunctions is the synodic month, which is a basic unit in most lunar (such as
the Islamic) and luni-solar (such as the Hebrew) calendars. The opposite event
is called full moon or lunar opposition when sun, earth and moon, in that
order, are approximately in a straight line.
The moon is completely invisible
to us because all of the sun’s radiation is reflected back by the moon and none
reaches the earth.
The time passed after the moment
of conjunction is called the age of the moon.
Once the moon is visible, the
month of Ramadan is declared.
In order to declare
the beginning of Ramadan, Saudi Arabia and other Muslim-majority countries
depend on the testimonies of local moon sightseers. Despite the knowledge of
astronomy, science and moon calculations, the scholar maintains that seeing the
moon with the naked eye should be the criterion for declaring the start of a
new month. Many religious authorities say this has been the tradition since the
times of the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.a.w.)
The actual
visibility of the crescent depends on factors like atmospheric conditions,
cloudiness, and most critical of all, the distance between the sun and the moon
on the horizon. Astronomically the birth of a new moon can be calculated
If the sun and the moon are too close to each
other, there is a high chance that the moon will be invisible because of the
glare caused by much brighter sunlight.
Saudi Arabia has
called for moon sighting on Thursday evening. If no moon is spotted, fasting
begins on Saturday.
As per astronomical
calculations, Ramadan fasting from May 27 to June 24.
Lunar months last
between 29 and 30 days, depending on sighting of the moon on the 29th night of
each month. If the moon is not visible, the month will last 30 days.
By the Gregorian
solar calendar, Ramadan comes 10 to 12 days earlier each year. Last year, the
first day of Ramadan was on June 6, 2016.
In the United
States, the Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA) announced that Ramadan would
be observed from May 27, based on astronomical predictions.
Muslim communities
in Europe will also observe Ramadan starting from May 27, as per the European
Council of Fatwa and Research and the Islamic Relief UK charity.
Calculation
indicates that the moon should be visible from most countries in the evening of
May 26, either with the naked eye or a telescope.
Last year, fasting
hours across the world ranged between 11 and 22 hours. This year, fasting hours
will range between 10 hours in Chile and 21 hours in Greenland.
